Tulane University gets new $250 million construction facility

A university campus park and a cafe are among the $250M in new construction that is coming on line for the 2019-20 academic year at Tulane.

The campus recreation center is one of the largest additions to the campus in years.

The new facility will feature a gym, athletic fields, basketball court, football field, track, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, hockey rink, and a football and men’s tennis court.

The $1.6M project will open this spring and include two classrooms, a meeting room, an office, a cafeteria, and the new library.

The gym is expected to open in fall 2019.

The $500K facility that will replace the tennis courts was completed in fall 2017.

The athletic field will be finished by spring 2019.

The cafe will open in spring 2019 with a full bar and seating area.

The existing building was demolished to make way for the construction.

Construction for the cafe started in spring 2018.

The Tulane Community Foundation awarded a $300,000 grant for the project.

Tulane students and faculty can get a discount on the project by signing up for a one-month $50/month student membership or $100/month employee discount.

The student discount will end on January 3, 2019.
