In the year and a half since Microsoft acquired Redmond, the Redmond-based company has been busy building its own office suite.
Its Windows 7 and 8 suites run a few hundred megabytes of RAM each, while its Office 365 suite has a few terabytes of memory.
And while Redmond has had a few other partners like HP, Dell, and HPE to offer its cloud-based services, these cloud-focused partners have been mostly limited to Microsoft Office 365.
That changed today, as Redmond announced it will now offer Office 365 on Windows 7, 10, and 8, with a suite of Office 365 features built in.
The company also announced a new Microsoft Office for Windows 10 and Office for Mac for Windows 8.
The new Office for PC, which is meant to be a successor to the Office 365 Windows 7 edition, will be a separate version of the Office suite that comes with new features, like support for Office 365’s online documentation platform.
The two new Office products will also both be available for $50.
Both of these new products will be available starting next week, which means we can expect to see them on the shelves in the coming weeks, just as they did earlier this month.
The Office for 10 and the Office for 8, which Microsoft has already said it will begin shipping on April 13, will also arrive on April 20.
Both these new Office offerings will have similar pricing.
Office 365 has been the best-selling version of Microsoft Office suite in the US, with the $50 Office 365 for Windows 7 offering the most recent version of Office, and the $75 Office 365 Mac version the most current version of Windows.
Microsoft has not said when it plans to launch the new Office suites for Windows, Mac, and Linux, but the company has hinted that it might do so sometime this year.
The fact that the Office products are also priced at $50 and $75 indicates that Microsoft plans to offer the Office bundles at a lower price point, which will allow customers to take advantage of the cloud and cloud-native productivity features that come with Office 365, including its online documentation and cloud file storage capabilities.
Microsoft also released a new version of its Office app for iOS and Android, the first of which will be released next week.
Microsoft announced a few changes to its Office for Android suite earlier this year, including a redesigned design, improved design features, and a new app to add support for a new cloud-centric app called Cloud Notes.
Microsoft’s Office for iOS apps have been a bit of a mixed bag for some time, with many users not enjoying the experience and others finding it annoying.
But this is Microsoft’s first major software release that includes cloud-related features, so the company seems to have figured out a way to make it work.
